Financial loss from employee theft and embezzlement can deliver a substantial blow to an organization. Ironically, mishandling an embezzlement case could set your organization up for a lawsuit or limit your ability to seek reimbursement or restitution, further increasing the damage. This session will help participants learn how to take charge of a bad situation, limit the damage, and increase the likelihood of recovering their losses. Presenters will share actual cases of embezzlement and the factors that contribute to successful prosecution and recovery of losses.
At the conclusion of this training, participants will:
- Learn immediate steps to take if they suspect fraud has occurred, including how to confront the employee suspected of theft or embezzlement
- Understand legal obligations and options for prosecution
- Learn actions to take to limit exposure, preserve evidence, and maximize recovery of losses
- Learn how to keep their organization operating smoothly and move on in the aftermath of an embezzlement
Presenters | Michelle McHale and Michael Swafford, members of Plante Moran’s investigative services team, and Kurt McCamman, an attorney with Miller Canfield, specializing in employment law, electronic discovery, and litigation.
